Au Jardin du Luxembourg
Je passe presque toute ma vie dans mon atelier et, exception faite de mes tableaux d’herbes, mes scènes d’extérieur sont en réalité des reconstitutions en studio, comme on dit au cinéma. Pour ma série des bancs du Jardin du Luxembourg, j’ai fait fabriquer un faux banc aux mesures exactes de vrais (mais démontable), de façon à trouver, avec mes modèles, et chez moi, bien cachées, le même genre d’attitudes qu’on peut observer au Jardin.
The Jardin du Luxembourg
I spend almost all my life in my studio and, with the exception of my grass paintings, my exterior scenes are actually reconstitutions done in the studio, as one might say of the movies. For my series of benches of the Jardin du Luxembourg, I had a bench (that could be disassembled) made to the exact measurements of the real ones in order to find, with my models and in my house, the same sorts of poses one might observe in the Jardin.
